Exciting news

Hey y’all!!

I feel like I haven’t blogged in forever. It’s been a week for sure. BUT It’s because I have decided that maybe VLOGS might be more my things. At least majority of the time. Blogging has been more of a task than I thought and really it was a gate way into vlogging. I am still going to blog but maybe once a week and I will link my videos as well. I would LOVE some support. It is making me so nervous and slightly anxious to even do them but I am hoping for the best. My first video isn’t going to be award winning but I can say I’ve gotten a novice hold on Final Cut Pro.

So, the bad news is I didn’t keep my blog name (Lipstickandlaceblog (minus the blog part) which I was hoping to do. There were just too many forms of lipstickandlace taken. (like xo or 86 etc) SOOOOO on YouTube I am

BeautybyBrittneyxox

Again, would love for you to come by and check me out. And heavens, don’t judge my nappy hair. haha

The video will hopefully be up tomorrow (9/11).

Thanks guys!

xo, Britt

Sunday Funday

Top of the morn…Afternoon to you all. I think I hear the sounds of naps and football if I’m not mistaken.

Hope everyone has had a great week and is getting some rest today.

Wanted to put up a quick blog since I’ve been ‘traveling’. Not far but it’s made a difference in my blog life.

Just wanted to post my ‘MOTD’ (That’s Makeup Of The Day if you weren’t sure)

lipstickblog1

I really loved everything that happened in my ‘beauty’ world today. I had the chance to get up earlier and have more time to get ready. My outfit was picked out ahead of time and I really liked it.
The picture is the slightest bit blurry but you’ll get the ‘picture’ ha? ha? Get it? Sorry…

I will add in my other items after the MOTD.
Moisturizer: CeraVe’s AM moisturizing lotion.
Primer: Lorac’s Mattifiying POREfecting face primer.
Eye shadow Primer/Base: Urban Decay’s Primer Potion in Original AND on top of that is MAC’s Paint Pot in ‘Soft Ochre’ OFFFF course.
Eyeshadow:(even though you can’t really see it) Tarte’s ‘Plum away with me’ all over the lid and ‘don’t make a mauve’ in the crease. Both of these are from the ‘Rainforest after Dark’ palette. I just am loving this combo. For the brown/hazel eyes..it’s perfect!
Eyeliner: Stila’s dark brown eyeliner pencil
Mascara: Urban Decay’s Perversion
False Lashes: Eylure’s ‘Banging Beauty’ – Katy Perry line.
eylure
Foundation: (Liquid) MAC’s ProLong wear Foundation in NC15 mixed with Covergirls “Ready set gorgeous’ in the lightest shade’ (I’m more of a pink tone…but I’m closer to neutral so I mix the two to get my shade)
Setting Powder : Rimmel London Stay Matte (Can’t remember the shade but it’s the lightest one)
Other powders: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Trio Powder
Blush
: MAC’s ‘Peony Petal’
Bronzer (contour): Benifit’s Hoola Bronzer
Lip Liner: NYX ‘Dolly Pink’
Lipstick: MAC’s ‘Saint Germain’
Lipgloss: Nars ‘Striptease’ (OH this lipgloss!!)
Setting Spray: MAC’s ‘Fix Plus’ (‘I see a theme Brittney.’ Oh really? What’s that?)

My blouse is a dark blue faux wrap  (what’s the technical color..not royal… help me out here guys!) from Target.
target
Anyways, it’s this shirt just blue. I love it. I’m digging the faux wrap shirt thing right now.
The blazer is from Maurices. I’m obsessed with this blazer. It’s more like a blazer and then turns into an open front cardigan.
I couldn’t find the exact blazer but this is the idea in the front.
blazer
It’s just perfect. I’ve had tons of compliments on this and I’ve been wearing it since I was about 25 lbs heaver and it seems to go down with me. I’m hoping so because I’d hate to not have this staple piece in my closet.
My necklace. I THINK it’s from shop lately. I could be wrong but let me just say it is the cheapest plastic necklace ever. It is about an ounce in weight but I really like it. I don’t THINK you would know by just looking at it. I have a gold one…but it’s actual metal.

And last, I have in extentions. My hair reaches right past my shoulders, it’s layered. But my hair dresser got extentions for me and colored them to match my hair. I have 6 pieces but I normally only wear 2-4 ever. Most of the time people don’t even know I have them in because she did such a great job.

Anywho…I hope you liked this little diddy of a post. Please like it if you did, if you didn’t, if you’re neutral. Just let me know you stopped by.

*** LASTLY!! I am going to start making YouTube videos soon. Waiting on a few things to come in but I may not being doing blogs AS often but I will at least put the video up on my blog.
Thanks guys! Have a great rest of your Sunday and hope Monday treats you well!

Collective Haul (August)

beautyquote

Well hey y’all!! Excited to be doing my first collective haul.
I’m just going to run through these real quick and IF I’ve used it I’ll give a mini review/1st impression.
If you’d like to know either more about or where I got a product PAHLEZE let me know and I’d be happy to help you with that. More than happy!

Lets. Get. Stahdid, Dawling!

JEWELRY

IMG_0702

The 3 necklaces you see above are from???
WAL-MART! Say What? Girl you are lying? No. No I’m not.
So it seems that Wal-Mart is trying to up the ante with their ‘fashion’ choices.

IMG_0703

I saw this 1st and honestly couldn’t believe I found this there.
It was 10 dollars and I had NUMEROUS compliments sunday on it. Of course my personality is to tell eeeeeveryone that I got it at wal mart and not many believed me. Which was cool.

IMG_0704

This piece is a long chain and I actually wore it tonight to practice. It’s not super long.
It reaches to right under my bust area. Not much to say other than I like it and got it on sale for 4 dollars.

IMG_0706If you go to most wal marts..you will see this particular statement necklace in multiple colors.
I found these three a few towns over in a really nice area and my Wal-Mart closer to home only had these pieces when it came to ‘statement pieces.’
ANY ways..this was $5 and I really like all of them.

LIPS

NYX Lip liners.
IMG_0712

So, my trusty Amazon.com had a deal for all 6 of these for $13.03 (so that’s approximetely $2.16 each when they are usually close to $3.50 a piece. So that’s almost $1.30 savings for each one.)
I LOVE NYX products. Affordable and these lipliners are legit. They work well. IMG_0716 IMG_0715

There is (L-R) ‘856 Sand Pink’, ‘839 Dolly Pink’ (Great for a lipstick like MAC’s Saint Germain), ‘824 Orange’ (No thanks), ‘840 Rose’ (Probably my favorite as far as a nude pink goes), ‘835 Pinky’ and ‘846 Tangerine’
(Tangerine has a shimmer to it which would be pretty on the eye maybe but on the lips I don’t see what purpose that serves and it’s very orangey and for me orange undertones are a no no!)

IMG_0719

OF course, you know I love me some MAC.

IMG_0723 IMG_0724 IMG_0725

This beautiful color is ‘Fleshpot’. Sigh.
It is a nude pink. Just beautiful. Still a TAD light even for my skin but with a slight darker gloss — it’s gorgeous.
And if you are wondering, it’s a satin.

Sephora Purchases

I decided that I would put this section as ‘Sephora Purchases’ since they are really random.

Had 500 points and I have heard a ton about ‘Hourglass’. So, since they had this box, I decided to go for it.

IMG_0732 IMG_0733

There is a pamphlet of foil packet samples (I believe they are foundations)

IMG_0734

It says for ‘VEIL’ it’s a Natural Radiant Finish with a buildable medium coverage.
‘IMMACULATE’-Velvet Matte Finish with same coverage as VEIL.
ILLUSION-Luminous Finish and Medium-to-full coverage.
I’m really excited to try these, epcially the Veil and Illusion.

IMG_0735
Then it comes with a full coverage lip stain. It’s very red.
A face primer in ‘Veil’ (tried it and wouldn’t suggest for combo/oily skin honestly),
a nude pink lipstick that is really nice on, very opaque,
and their mascara in ‘Onyx’.
(This is ok. I’m sure the full size is pricey and I can say I won’t be running out to buy it. The brush doesn’t really grip your lashes like I would like and it’s a dry formula. I don’t hate a dry formula but maybe on a better brush. Doesn’t mean someone else may not like it. And it geared, in my opinion, towards volumizing, not length.)

IMG_0736The red swatch is the gloss/stain. (IT STAINS!)
The middle, pink/peach, swatch is the lipstick. I looks shimmery or like it has a sheen but it doesn’t. I’m not sure why it’s showing up that way.
The last is the mascara. It is like a charcoal black. It’s a lighter black. Ya feel me? It’s just ok.

Next, they usually allow you 4 free samples with your order and three are perfumes and one is a skin care item.
IMG_0738The white fold out pamphlet is a 2-in-1 of the Elizabeth and James (by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen)
I’m not a fan. Sorry.
The Brown ‘book’ like sample is Dolce & Gabbana’s ‘Pour Homme’. This smells great. It’s ALMOST a male cologne type smell. But still feminine.
The artsy, funky style sample pack is ‘Fun’ by Desigual. I wish I could explain this smell but I like it a lot. I’ve never heard of this brand but I would totally buy it. Totes.
Lastly, is the the small foil packet. It is Kate Somerville’s Mega-C Anti Aging Serum.
The main down side to small samples for skin care products is you can’t really know how they will turn out because you don’t have enough product to truly try it out and see how it will work.

Ok guys. Here is the stuff I couldn’t WAIT to post on.

1st is the Tarte- ‘Rainforest After Dark’ Eye, Cheek, bronzer, highlight palette.

IMG_0751Look at this packaging. Just look. Beautiful. I love the front with the snake and jewel eye. And even the wood.
Tarte did it’s thing once again.
IMG_0753You get 6 eyeshadows, a blush, highlighter and bronzer in one for $38.00.
In my opinion, that’s a pretty good deal. As you can see in the center is a blush called ‘Unleased’.
I love this blush. I own one other tarte blush and I love it as well. It will take you half your life to use up these blushes.
As far as I know, this is a limited edition blush and I don’t THINK it comes in a single after much research.
They need to make it one. It’s just the perfect pink for almost everyone.
IMG_0754

The 1st three colors are:
1.’Bare to Explore’ (a very nude, pink undertone all over lid color)
2. Then there is ‘Make a Mauve’ (ha..I see what you did there. It’s mauve. Yep)
3. ‘Plum away with me’ – LOVE this color. It’s just my color. If you have the brown/hazel eyes. Wear this. YAYUS!
IMG_0755The 2nd half of the 6 eyeshadows are:

4. ‘Up to no gold’ – I used this gold shimmer color in the center of my lid to brighten it up. It was beautiful over ‘plum away’
5. ‘Tan-gled up in you’ – It is….tan. Very pretty transition color.
6. ‘Don’t turn a brown’. Ok guys. We get it, y’all are clever. This is a great crease color and I even used it as a shadow liner. IMG_0768These are the swatches (above) From L-R
I Like them. Do I think they are the best eyeshadows ever. No, not so much but I do really like this palette. The colors are all nice and I just can’t say enough about that plum color. It’s forcing me to expand my horizon.

IMG_0752Next is the ‘Champagne’ Highlighter and the ‘Park ave princess’ bronzer. The highlighter is nice and subtle but the bronzer is really, really great. I’d buy it again on it’s own. Very nice and natural and, in my opinion, goes up against my Hoola bronzer. (That’s saying a lot)

Last but MOST definietly not least is *DUN DUN DUN*
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Trio/Palette

IMG_0743

Ladies. Let us take a moment and look at these colors. I just can’t get enough.

IMG_0745

I am someone who can not do a lot of shimmer and shine. I am already an oil slick during the summer but this is just perfection. It gives a ‘glow from within’ look and I seriously can not say enough good about this product.
It IS a setting powder if you want it to be. It IS a highlighter if you want it to be but it is NOT a highlighter in the ‘opaque’, super shimmer and mega light catching kind of highlighter. It’s just a glow.
You have (left) Dim Light, (Middle) Incandescent Light, and (Right) Dim light.
The incandescent is great for under the eyes and light skintones. Actually, let me just say, this palette is for you to make it what you want. Depending on what it is you want to do with your skin, how you want the light to catch etc, this is for you to play with and figure out what best suites you.
Worth the money? *Deep Breath*..I mean yea…it kind of is.
Is it something I’d recommend to someone who doesn’t want to spend a lot. NO! But girl if you splurge. You will be happy.

IMG_0784Here is my face done with the MAC’s ‘Fleshpot’ (and a bath and body works gloss)
Plum, gold and light brown eyeshadow from the Tarte palette,
Hourglass mascara,
and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting palette.
(not the best lighting so sorry it doesn’t do it justice.)

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR STOPPING BY!

XO, Britt

August Ipsy Bag!

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Colossians 3:12

Hey all my sweet and beautiful people! How are you? Hope that your week has gone well and you are setting up for a better weekend!

Who’s ready for an ipsy bag showing and first impressions?? YOU? GREAT!

IMG_0661

Got that pretty pink package in the mail yesterday! So, naturally I decided to do my next blog post on it!

I was pretty pleased with this bag!

Let’s just right in!

1st up is the ‘Bee All Natural’ Chap Stick in ‘Grapefruit’

IMG_0663 IMG_0664

This smelled like grapefruit and lemon mixed together. Not my favorite smell ever but I do like how it feels on the lips.
Other than that…it’s a chap stick!
Found this for $3.39 on abesmarket.com

Next, is the Lord & Berry mini majal kohl-liner in the color ‘#1001 Black Silk

IMG_0666 IMG_0667 IMG_0668

The swatch on my hand is one light swipe. I was impressed.
I feel like this would be better as a smudge liner rather than a regular eye liner. It’s not waterproof. I let it sit on my hand for a few minutes and then swiped my hand over it firmly but not hard and it smudged. Now you might be able to set this with a black powder but it is creamy and I don’t feel it would drag on your eye lid. We appreciate that!!

(Side note: Just read on the Beauty Bar website it is meant for lining waterline, tight lining and regular eye liner with the intention to smudge. So, I guess I was right!)
Get the full size for $15 here!

Baronessa Cali Cosmetics has a ‘Body Cream’ that claims (If I’m ready this right) to be good for body and hair.
Ok. That’s different.

IMG_0669 IMG_0670

It goes on like any other lotion and smells like lemons (what’s with the lemon theme people). I have no real opinion other than it’s kind of pricey. THIS sample bottle (30mg) is $4. FOUR…..DOLLARS. I dunno, call me cheap but that just seems like a lot. The biggest bottle they have is around 36 dollars. I will have to try this and see if I become 18 again.

If I haven’t talked you out buying it … get it here!

This next prodcut I’m excited to try out on my face. It is Manna Kadar (which I’ve heard of because of ‘Chrisspymakeup’ on Youtube) ‘Sheer Glo Shimmer Lotion’.

IMG_0671 IMG_0673 IMG_0674

This is the prettiest, sheer sheen lotion luminizer. It’s has a pink-ish tint to it and when you rub it in, it’s a more sheer version of the tube color and is just so pretty. I’m assuming this can go anywhere but I would love to put this under my foundation, even mix it in or use as a liquid highlight and see what it does. Who knows. The picture doesn’t do it justice.

The full size comes in, what looks like, a nail polish type bottle.

You can get it on Amazon.com for $29.00.

Did you just here me shriek?? Because I did. I almost bought this at Ulta because of the hype and decided to wait till my other mascaras expired before I did. But it was going to be my next mascara.

IMG_0675 IMG_0676 IMG_0693IMG_0696

Left eye with Perversion on vs. right eye, nothing.

Left eye with Perversion on vs. right eye, nothing.

IMG_0690

(Perversion on both eyes)

I like it. I don’t think it’s worthy of the one swipe and bam!
BUT I do really like it and I LOVE the brush. It’s a thinker brush that really grabs on to the lashes and coats them nicely. The picture with both lashes done, that was two coats. I didn’t curl or prime my lashes. That is just the mascara.
Will I buy it after the sample? It’s highly likely!

Get your full size tube at the best place on earth — Ulta.com for $22.

And last but not least, the bag!

IMG_0697

As you can obviously see, it’s a rounded bag white bag with orange polka dots and an orange zipper.
These types of bags are easier to fit stuff in, in my opinion. I love that ipsy does the bag and great products on top of it.

I would LOVE to know what you thought of your ipsy bag, if you get one OR if you have another subscription!
Thanks for coming by!!

Beauty Blogger of The Month Nominee and My nominees!

blogaward

Super excited to be nominated for Beauty Blogger of the month. I was surprised to say the least and I have ‘Kitty Approved Beauty‘ to thank for it. So sweet of you. Please click her name and check. her. out. She’s just awesome.

With that said: We are challenged to answer some questions (See Official Rules here) and choose our own nominees (If you weren’t already nominated KAB I’d pick you for sure!!

So 1st with the questions and noms will be at the bottom. EK!

1. Where does your makeup inspiration come from?
So, the best way to explain my answer is to say it’s a little bit of just what I like, a lot of checking out whats hot on youtube or what I see on others and trying it on myself, and looking at pictures of myself and seeing what I’ve liked and what I haven’t. And it changes all the time.

2. What are 3 of your makeup Holy Grail products you cannot live without?
Mac’s pro long wear concealer, eyeliner in general, and bronzer/contour powder.

3. What is your makeup signature look which you have on most of the time?
The natural, everyday wear usually. Nude/natural browns and a light pink lip.

4. Let us know your favorite makeup brands?
MAC, Urban Decay, Maybelline, Tarte, milani, Lorac, and Benifit. (So make up haha)

5. Your ultimate makeup pet peeve?
Parents who let their kids get away with any and everything. You are making the world harder for everyone else and one day it will effect them. Trust. (Throws mic down)

6. You’ve heard about all the hype on this makeup item, bought it, tried it and don’t understand what all the fuss is about…Name that product!
Well I’ve talked about it in my July/August Haul– ‘they’re Real Liner’ by Benifit. Just disappointing. I mean it works…but it just wasn’t worth the money or didn’t live up to all the hype in my personal opinion.

7. Concealer OR foundation ONLY for the rest of your life. Choose one and tell us the reason!
Concealer. Easy. As long as I can conceal my undereyes and blemishes…I’d be fine. But hey, please don’t take away my foundation!

My nominees for Beauty Blogger of the month are:

July Favorites (I’m late…I know)

Do not let your adorning be external—the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear— but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious.

1st Peter 3:3-4

Well, Hello all my fabulous people. How the heck are you? (Seriously, tell me. I wanna know!)

So, in typical Brittney fashion…I’m late. BUT I seriously had to do my July favorites. So let’s just jump right in.

IMG_0600

All of these products are just wonderful. Personally, of course!

Starting with my Mac Paint Pot in ‘Soft Ochre’.

IMG_0601 IMG_0607I mentioned ‘Soft Ochre’ in my July/August Haul and I can’t say enough about this. Some people use ‘painterly’ but it’s only different by a slight shade. I’ve heard it being used on it’s own as a base but I have oily eye lids so I use my Urban Decay primer potion first and them go over it with this paint pot. It seriously does wonders for my eye shadow. Like Legit, y’all!

Get yours it here for 21 dollars. (You may be able to find it a tad cheaper on amazon)

Next is Rimmel London ‘Stay Matte’ Long Lasting Pressed Powder. And I’m in the shade ‘Creamy Natural’IMG_0608 IMG_0612 IMG_0611Now, this is especially great if you are like me and have a pink undertone to your skin. But honestly, even if you don’t…it’s great. Perfect amount of powder to not look, well, powdery. I have combination/oily skin and so my T-zone is like a mini slip n slide during the summer. So, I HAFTA powder (That’s a word in the south by the way!)

I picked mine up at walmart for under 4 dollars.

Numero Tres: NYX Wonder Pencil in the color WP01 Light/Clair

IMG_0614 IMG_0619

It says it can be used as a Concealer, eye brightener and reverse lipliner. I use mine for the water line to help make my eyes look bigger and right on top of my upper lip to create fullness. This is a great, inexpensive product that I WILL repurchase if I ever do run out. But I use this daily. Buy one of three shades here for $4.49.

Tarte products are wonderful. Simply wonderful.

IMG_0622 IMG_0624

This, my friends, is the perfect natural shade. Just perfection. It’s Tarte’s Amazonian clay blush in the color ‘Exposed’. The best way to explain the color is a muted peach/pink with possibly a brown undertone. Not too bold of a color, very natural, great for everyday. And that top picture is after using it for over a month at LEAST 3 times a week. Haven’t even put a dent in it. So for the price (26 buckaroos), I say it’s worth it.
Check out exposed and 13 other shades at Ulta.com.

Oh girl, those lashes!IMG_0625 IMG_0626

Precision Dark Lash Adhesive By Revlon ($3.93 at walmart)

So does ANYONE else use this. I feel like I’m the only one. But I love this stuff. It works as well as Duo, in my opinion, and is black. Which is wonderful. No need to go back in and touch up.
There isn’t much more to say.
There is only ONE downside I’ve found and it’s that it clumps at the opening. I have to clean it often but other than that..it’s worth it.

Lioele BB CreamIMG_0627 IMG_0629 IMG_0628

First, sorry about the lighting. My hand looks like I haven’t taken a bath since age 4.
This stuff I heard of on YouTube. It is a medium coverage BB cream. It comes in one color so if you are fair to light tan (is that a thing?) It should work great. But it would be great if you are going for a full coverage look and want to put a light layer of this on underneath your foundation. It is a Korean brand so I literally have NO idea what the back says. But if you know anything about Korean Makeup..you know they are ahead of the Makeup game.

I got mine from Amazon.com for $15.90.

Gotta get that makeup off. So, I have no only been using but repurchased Neutrogena’s “Oil-free Eye Make up Remover.”IMG_0630 IMG_0631

This stuff will take off everything. I take a cotton round, soak it with this product and lay it on my eye for about 20 minutes and then lightly wipe away all my eye makeup. I do this twice on both sides for each eye. Layers of primer and eyeshadow, waterproof mascara, regular mascara, lash glue, and eye liners. It even took off the They’re real liner by benifit and they claim you need to also purchase THEIR they’re real eye make up remover. No. No you don’t. This works just as well. Thanks though!
Target.com has it for $6.99.

Lorac POREfection Mattifying Face Primer

IMG_0632Even though I haven’t found that ‘holy grail’ primer, this comes as close as I’ve come. I got this in a package deal from amazon and I thought “Why not, I’ll give it a go”, and I’m so glad I did.
I’ve mixed with with Mac’s Prep and Prime Primer and it seems to work even better but it does work great alone under my foundation. Smooths the skin and my skin stays matte, longer. This is a sample size but I definitely want to repurchase the full size.

SPEAKING of foundations, this one took my complete surprise!
Covergirl’s ‘Ready, Set, Gorgeous Fresh Complexion oil free foundation’ ($6.94)

IMG_0634

Ok so, I will just put it out there that the packaging had me fooled. I know ‘don’t judge a book..’ but seriously. To me it looked very ‘BB’ cream-esqe. But I REALLY like this foundation and have been using it every time I put on make up. Creamy, goes on great, blends easy, matches my skin, and for the most part doesn’t make me real oily. It doesn’t claim to be a mattifying foundation so I wasn’t expecting it to be but I really like it. And for under 7 buck. Yes ma’am! Thank you VERY much!

Another Drugstore favorite is the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer.
This stuff is where it’s at!
IMG_0636I feel a lot of people use this and I actually went back to it after trying other consealers. It has great coverage and is super easy to blend. You crank that raspberry colored area and it has a sponge that helps plop it on, if you will. Just love this stuff.
Get it here for $7.94.

Urban Decay’s Naked Skin ‘Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup’ Foundation

Sigh. In LOVE! IMG_0646 IMG_0648 IMG_0649 IMG_0650Great product all around when you want a light to meduim buildable coverage.

So the way to understand their shades is to look at the number first.
Everything with a “.5” (for example 4.5) has a pink undertone.
And everything with a zero after the period (Example 3.0) is the yellow undertones.
Then, of course, you need to find your shade among the range of colors. I have the lightest (go figure) and I can’t get enough of this. If you look at the first picture, you can see I’m at the last fourth of the bottle. I LOVE that it comes with a pump. You need this in your life.

I’ve had this product for over 6 months and use it all the time. I took it with me on my conference so I could have a lightweight foundation that would still give a natural looking coverage.

Get yours at Ulta.com or Ulta stores for $39.00.

Ok Last item is possibly the cheapest as well.

e.l.f.’s Makeup Remover Pen
IMG_0640 IMG_0641 IMG_0644

This is really a great thing. I always seem to get my mascara on my eye lids after I’m done with my make up and this helps with just the lightest tap to get rid of it.
As you see from the last picture, from one swipe, it will completely erase the makeup if you need it to.
Get it at Target.com for $3.04.

Tag Tuesday

britttag

Before I get started wanted to say that I’m thinking of doing a ‘Tag Tuesday’ for fun. Something different each week.

Also I TAG YOU!! Yes, you. I’ve you’re reading this–your it. You have TWO choices…either copy and paste on your own blog & let them know I tagged you OR you can pick 5 questions and comment below. Either way, I want to know more about you guys!

1. What is one of your biggest dreams?
Well, that’s easy. Either one would be fine.
A. Sing on the Beth Moore Tour with Travis Cottrell and his group. Would. Be. Amazing. (But I not limited to Beth and Travis. TRUST)
B. Become a Freelance Makeup artist. Sigh.
I have a feeling B is more attainable BUT I swore I’d never stop dreaming.

2. Name three things that are physically close to you.
My Blogging notebook. My Ideal Protein Pudding (I need to put it in the trash) and a blood pressure monitor. My son loves to use it haha.

3. What’s an ideal Sunday for you?
Church…practice/singing/message/fellowshipping with my Church family. Then come home and eat lunch with my family. Put my son down for his nap and then take one for myself. Then dinner and a movie. BUT those are most Sunday’s anyways. OR on the beach…either or haha.

4. Do you drive? If so, what do you drive and have you ever had a wreck?
I do drive. I drive a 2012 Chevy Equinox and I LOVE it.

Most definitely my open face cardigans from Target. I have it in 3 colors. (Army green, light peach/pink, and black)

14. How many siblings do you have?
One brother who is 10 years older than I. We aren’t super close in the fact that we didn’t really get to live together for long. By the time he was 8 or 9 I was out of the house and then they moved so we only see each other 4 or 5 times a year.

17. Do you wear contacts or glasses?
Fortunately, no. And I am so thankful. But both of my parents wear glasses so I’m sure it won’t be forever. And we are such a technological generation and stare at screens all the time…I’m sure I’ll be at Vision for less soon enough. (Fingers crossed I’m wrong)

18. Do you color your hair?
Oh, most def!! Dark red or ‘black cherry’ I’ve heard it called. Love it so much! I have had so many compliments on my hair color. (my hairdresser should get the compliments)

Well as it’s night time..I plan on getting my son’s haircut tomorrow and then, in our usual tradition, get him a sprinkle donut and head to hobby lobby. So excite!

20. What’s the drink you always order at Starbucks?
Iced double americano with half and half,  2 pumps of sugar free carmel and 1 pump hazelnut with 1 pkt splenda. Yea boy! I get it like once every 2 months because by them I’ve caught my breathe from saying all that.

A teacher. And  Mom. I’m a stay at home mom…so I kind of am a Teacher! 😉

22. What’s a beauty rule you preach, but never actually practice?
Washing your face twice a day. I do wash it nightly but if I’m not going anywhere during the day…I almost always don’t wash my face in the morning. I will work on it. I promise!!

23. Have you ever had an all-nighter?
Well, yes! Plenty of teenage bday parties and sleepovers. But not ever for studying. I just wasn’t the best student.

Most definitely. There is a very distinct taste.

25. What quote/phrase do you live your life by?
Jesus said: Love God. Love People. He didn’t stutter and there are no exceptions.

July/August Haul

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Gal. 5:22-23

HEY GUYS!

Ok!! I’m back among the living. This past week and 1/2 has been CRAZY!

So, I’m excited to do my very 1st HAUL! I feel the need to put it in caps because when I watch beauty gurus (and non beauty guru’s) on YouTube, I always LLOOVVEE Hauls. I don’t have any clothes to haul (today anyways) but I do have hair, make up, and one nail and skincare item. Now as a haul, I haven’t used all the items yet. Just showing you what I’ve accumulated over the past few weeks. I will do a FAVORITES blog soon! So, stay tuned!!

Warning: slightly lengthy but I have a lot to cover. I may just start doing YouTube videos…geez!

IMG_0559

So I’m just going to jump right in. I have quite a bit to cover and I will do a mini review/first impression on the ones I’ve used.

Let us start with hair care first!

IMG_0590

From L-R, L’Oreal’s New ‘Sleek It Frizz Vanisher Cream’, Batiste’s ‘Hint of color for Deep and Dark Brown hair’, and CatWalk by TIGI’s ‘Haute Iron Spray’.

IMG_0591

You can pick up L’Oreal’s Sleek It at Walmart & other drugstore’s for under 5 dollars. I really like this stuff. When I tell you I used the tiniest amount, I’m not kidding. Less than a pea sized amount. Use it on damp hair before you finish drying your hair. I like to use it when I’m ALMOST done drying so that it keeps the hair from getting frizzy all day long. We have hard water so I need all the help I can get.

IMG_0592

Next is what I consider a ‘Holy Grail’ product. This Hint of Color version of the batiste dry shampoo comes in 4 shades: Light & Blonde, Dark & Deep Brown, Vibrant & Red, and medium/Brunette.

Get it here from Ulta.Com for around $8.99.

I want to try the Vibrant & Red shade next since my hair is dyed a dark red now. I bought a bottle of this for my best friend and she loves it. She told me she didn’t have to wash her hair for days! PLUS there are the regular ‘white cast’ versions if you prefer that. You can’t go wrong with batiste. Not to mention they smell pretty good, too! (Ok I’ll move on!)

IMG_0593This stuff.

The CATWALK By TIGI Haute (pronounced Hot) Iron Spray! Where has it been my whole life?

I get my hair done by my hair dresser every 6-7 weeks. Well, she has been using this on my hair the past two times and OH MUH GOODNESS! It is amazing. She sprays a light mist (from about 10 inches away from my hair) right before she hot irons my hair and it gives the softest, shiniest look to my hair and smells amazing!  And I actually purchased it from her directly but you can get yours for under 12 dollars on Amazon.com.

Get some of this. Get it!

I’ve got one nail item this week.

IMG_0571It is the Salley Hansen Hard as Nails XTREME Wear in the color 230 Pep-Plum.

Now I’m not a huge nail polish girl. I’d rather have someone else do mine because I SUCK at painting my nails. Seriously. Suck at it. Hoover. BUT I find it easier when I have acrylic nails, to paint them myself. Why? I don’t know. I haven’t actually used this color but I have opened it and looked at it. I actually got it in hopes to find a cute glitter to put over top. This is not quite what I’d consider plum but it’s basically a dark pink with maybe a slight purple undertone, if you will. I got mine from walmart for $2.48. (SAY WHAT?)  I will hopefully use this soon and I’ll let you know!

Here is another single item for the Skin Care section.

IMG_0550

This is the Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser.

This has 10% benzoyl peroxide acne medication to help dry up and heal break outs.

I don’t have ‘acne’ in the way most people think but I do have breakouts pretty much weekly and I tend to have tiny bumps all over my face. Almost mocking me, as if they might become a painful little (big) booger that wants to ruin my day. So I figure if it will help ‘acne’ it may help daily pimples. We shall see.

Again, Walmart has the best price at $4.97.

Alright, Make up. It’s here.

I will start with drugstore 1st and then do my higher end products last.

IMG_0551

These two foundations are both newer to the drugstore. In fact the Covergirl ‘Ready Set Gorgeous’ just launched earlier in July. Where as with the L’Oreal ‘Magic Nude Liquid Powder’ came out mid June, I believe. The reviews have been great on both.

The L’Oreal foundation is very thin but it’s so nice on. Very Second skin..ish.
The Covergirl is definietly medium coverage and OH GIRL it feels so nice on. I will have to actually put them on my large, oily pores first and see how they do in the element.
I’ve put both only on the back of my hand but I will be trying the Covergirl tonight and can most definitely do a review if anyone would like it. (I can do a review on anything that I haven’t tried, actually.)

I’m in the color ‘110 Creamy Natural’ in Covergirl (Get it here for under $9)
And I’m ‘312 Classic Ivory’ In The L’Oreal. Well lets hope they are the right shades…

_____

Next is the Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder by Rimmel London.

IMG_0554

I am trying this thanks to Tati (on YouTube.) She raves about this and she is someone I actually trust when it comes to makeup. I’ve used a slight bit of it and she was on point with this. I was out of my Revlon powder so I decided to take a chance. (Oh, what a risk taker I am)
I am in the color ‘Creamy Natural’ and I got it at walmart for under $4.

_____

Now on to Higher end make up products.

IMG_0582

IMG_0586

Well. Here it is. The ‘they’re Real! push-up liner’ by Benifit.
(That black line is the swatch by the way)
I hate to say this but I’m underwelmed.
I mean it’s good, don’t get me wrong. When you use it for the very first time, you will have to crank that sucker till you have carpal tunnel and you need to wipe off the first bit of liner that comes out. I don’t know if it’s just dried out a bit but it seems everyone has had that problem.
But the second time I used it it worked ok. Is it any better than a gel pot liner? I hate to say, in my opinion, no.

BUT if you are new to gel liners and need a guide to draw a wing…this might just be your thing. I just don’t feel like it was worth the price. But benifit is known for stand up products so we all want it. Now with that said…it takes some good eye makeup remover to get this stuff off. This is what happened after I cleaned all the swatches off my hand with much pressure:

IMG_0594

This was left on as if I hadn’t even touched it. But I use the Neutrogena eye make up remover and it will come off. There is really no reason to buy their eye make remover unless you just really want to.
Get the liner at Ulta.com for $24.00

______

IMG_0546 IMG_0548 IMG_0549

So, we don’t have anywhere around us that sells ‘theBalm’ Products. Which sucks because they are wonderful. I have had an eyeliner and now this Bahama Mama Bronzer. (#4F241)

Now, I only have the Hoola bronzer by Benifit to compare it to. It is just the slightest bit darker than the hoola bronzer. And it blends so well. I always like to use a blusher/bronzer (by Tarte) to do a soft contour first and then go in with a darker bronzer to contour more.

I got mine on Amazon.com for $12.88. (which is much cheaper than most high end bronzers)

_____

IMG_0566 IMG_0567 IMG_0568

Hold up. Wait a minute. Let me throw some MAC in it. Guys. Can we for just a second, talk about these pots from MAC. CAN WE? Sigh. These have changed my make up game.

MAC’s ‘Soft Ochre’ (A24) ProLong wear Paint pot has made my eye shadow just look flawless. The ‘Painterly’ Paint Pot is just as popular and is just a slightly different shade. I use the Urban Decay potion primers 1st and then put this over top. GIRL! It is awesome. Just wonderul. Get it, love it, rock it. You can get it (and several other shades) at maccosmetics.com for 20 bucks.

Then we have something I JUST got in the mail, like 2 days ago. MAC’s Lip Erase Lip Balm (pictured above on the right) in ‘A83 Pale’. I like to have a blank canvas when I do my makeup, including my lips, and this is a balm and basically a lip concealor all in one. It is just so great and starts out pretty sheer and is build able without feeling tacky. Get yours here in one of two shades also for $20.

_____

Now for the eyeshadow to go along with the primers.
IMG_0573 IMG_0575 IMG_0576

Tried my best to get a few angles so you could see the shimmer and also the format of this pallette. Now, I would suggest first, if you really want MAC eye shadows to buy a ZPallette from amazon. You will be saving some money there. Then buy they singles since they have the magnets on the bottom. BUT if you want a custom MAC pallette, this girl ain’t judgin’! This was one of my anniversary presents and I couldn’t wait to get them. This is basically the colors I wear on a daily Basis.

IMG_0580

Starting from the bottom, lightest: A24 Vanilla. I think most people that own their eyeshadows have this.
Then The light pink shade is A83 Sweet Lust
The Lighter of the Browns is A24 Twinks
And Lastly, the darker brown in A44 Embark.
So pretty and easy to blend. You just can’t go wrong with MAC. I don’t know if they make bad products.
_____

Last, but most definietly not least is, yet again, a MAC product.
IMG_0587 IMG_0588

This, my friends, is the MAC’s Lipstick in ‘Saint Germain’. This color is so pretty. Now, it’s definitely not for everyone. It’s more of a barbie pink with a slight purple undertone.
But it seems to be great on any skin tone. I seriously love it. It is a creme lipstick, not a luster. Creme is the pigmented lipstick, where a luster is more sheer. Their line of lipsticks are amazing. I actually wore it yesterday:
IMG_0834

I actually put Nars ‘Striptease’ over it and toned it down a bit since I was just running errands (i was trying new make up–don’t hate) but I was so excited to wear it, so I did.

Get a tube of ANY color at maccosmetics.com for 16 smackers.

Ok, I’m done. I promise. If you stuck it out. Thanks. If not, then you aren’t reading this anyways. Love you guys!
