Ok!! I’m back among the living. This past week and 1/2 has been CRAZY!
So, I’m excited to do my very 1st HAUL! I feel the need to put it in caps because when I watch beauty gurus (and non beauty guru’s) on YouTube, I always LLOOVVEE Hauls. I don’t have any clothes to haul (today anyways) but I do have hair, make up, and one nail and skincare item. Now as a haul, I haven’t used all the items yet. Just showing you what I’ve accumulated over the past few weeks. I will do a FAVORITES blog soon! So, stay tuned!!
Warning: slightly lengthy but I have a lot to cover. I may just start doing YouTube videos…geez!
So I’m just going to jump right in. I have quite a bit to cover and I will do a mini review/first impression on the ones I’ve used.
Let us start with hair care first!
From L-R, L’Oreal’s New ‘Sleek It Frizz Vanisher Cream’, Batiste’s ‘Hint of color for Deep and Dark Brown hair’, and CatWalk by TIGI’s ‘Haute Iron Spray’.
You can pick up L’Oreal’s Sleek It at Walmart & other drugstore’s for under 5 dollars. I really like this stuff. When I tell you I used the tiniest amount, I’m not kidding. Less than a pea sized amount. Use it on damp hair before you finish drying your hair. I like to use it when I’m ALMOST done drying so that it keeps the hair from getting frizzy all day long. We have hard water so I need all the help I can get.
Next is what I consider a ‘Holy Grail’ product. This Hint of Color version of the batiste dry shampoo comes in 4 shades: Light & Blonde, Dark & Deep Brown, Vibrant & Red, and medium/Brunette.
Get it here from Ulta.Com for around $8.99.
I want to try the Vibrant & Red shade next since my hair is dyed a dark red now. I bought a bottle of this for my best friend and she loves it. She told me she didn’t have to wash her hair for days! PLUS there are the regular ‘white cast’ versions if you prefer that. You can’t go wrong with batiste. Not to mention they smell pretty good, too! (Ok I’ll move on!)
The CATWALK By TIGI Haute (pronounced Hot) Iron Spray! Where has it been my whole life?
I get my hair done by my hair dresser every 6-7 weeks. Well, she has been using this on my hair the past two times and OH MUH GOODNESS! It is amazing. She sprays a light mist (from about 10 inches away from my hair) right before she hot irons my hair and it gives the softest, shiniest look to my hair and smells amazing! And I actually purchased it from her directly but you can get yours for under 12 dollars on Amazon.com.
Get some of this. Get it!
I’ve got one nail item this week.
It is the Salley Hansen Hard as Nails XTREME Wear in the color 230 Pep-Plum.
Now I’m not a huge nail polish girl. I’d rather have someone else do mine because I SUCK at painting my nails. Seriously. Suck at it. Hoover. BUT I find it easier when I have acrylic nails, to paint them myself. Why? I don’t know. I haven’t actually used this color but I have opened it and looked at it. I actually got it in hopes to find a cute glitter to put over top. This is not quite what I’d consider plum but it’s basically a dark pink with maybe a slight purple undertone, if you will. I got mine from walmart for $2.48. (SAY WHAT?) I will hopefully use this soon and I’ll let you know!
Here is another single item for the Skin Care section.
This is the Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser.
This has 10% benzoyl peroxide acne medication to help dry up and heal break outs.
I don’t have ‘acne’ in the way most people think but I do have breakouts pretty much weekly and I tend to have tiny bumps all over my face. Almost mocking me, as if they might become a painful little (big) booger that wants to ruin my day. So I figure if it will help ‘acne’ it may help daily pimples. We shall see.
Again, Walmart has the best price at $4.97.
Alright, Make up. It’s here.
I will start with drugstore 1st and then do my higher end products last.
These two foundations are both newer to the drugstore. In fact the Covergirl ‘Ready Set Gorgeous’ just launched earlier in July. Where as with the L’Oreal ‘Magic Nude Liquid Powder’ came out mid June, I believe. The reviews have been great on both.
The L’Oreal foundation is very thin but it’s so nice on. Very Second skin..ish.
The Covergirl is definietly medium coverage and OH GIRL it feels so nice on. I will have to actually put them on my large, oily pores first and see how they do in the element.
I’ve put both only on the back of my hand but I will be trying the Covergirl tonight and can most definitely do a review if anyone would like it. (I can do a review on anything that I haven’t tried, actually.)
I’m in the color ‘110 Creamy Natural’ in Covergirl (Get it here for under $9)
And I’m ‘312 Classic Ivory’ In The L’Oreal. Well lets hope they are the right shades…
Next is the Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder by Rimmel London.
I am trying this thanks to Tati (on YouTube.) She raves about this and she is someone I actually trust when it comes to makeup. I’ve used a slight bit of it and she was on point with this. I was out of my Revlon powder so I decided to take a chance. (Oh, what a risk taker I am)
I am in the color ‘Creamy Natural’ and I got it at walmart for under $4.
Now on to Higher end make up products.
Well. Here it is. The ‘they’re Real! push-up liner’ by Benifit.
(That black line is the swatch by the way)
I hate to say this but I’m underwelmed.
I mean it’s good, don’t get me wrong. When you use it for the very first time, you will have to crank that sucker till you have carpal tunnel and you need to wipe off the first bit of liner that comes out. I don’t know if it’s just dried out a bit but it seems everyone has had that problem.
But the second time I used it it worked ok. Is it any better than a gel pot liner? I hate to say, in my opinion, no.
BUT if you are new to gel liners and need a guide to draw a wing…this might just be your thing. I just don’t feel like it was worth the price. But benifit is known for stand up products so we all want it. Now with that said…it takes some good eye makeup remover to get this stuff off. This is what happened after I cleaned all the swatches off my hand with much pressure:
This was left on as if I hadn’t even touched it. But I use the Neutrogena eye make up remover and it will come off. There is really no reason to buy their eye make remover unless you just really want to.
Get the liner at Ulta.com for $24.00
So, we don’t have anywhere around us that sells ‘theBalm’ Products. Which sucks because they are wonderful. I have had an eyeliner and now this Bahama Mama Bronzer. (#4F241)
Now, I only have the Hoola bronzer by Benifit to compare it to. It is just the slightest bit darker than the hoola bronzer. And it blends so well. I always like to use a blusher/bronzer (by Tarte) to do a soft contour first and then go in with a darker bronzer to contour more.
I got mine on Amazon.com for $12.88. (which is much cheaper than most high end bronzers)
Hold up. Wait a minute. Let me throw some MAC in it. Guys. Can we for just a second, talk about these pots from MAC. CAN WE? Sigh. These have changed my make up game.
MAC’s ‘Soft Ochre’ (A24) ProLong wear Paint pot has made my eye shadow just look flawless. The ‘Painterly’ Paint Pot is just as popular and is just a slightly different shade. I use the Urban Decay potion primers 1st and then put this over top. GIRL! It is awesome. Just wonderul. Get it, love it, rock it. You can get it (and several other shades) at maccosmetics.com for 20 bucks.
Then we have something I JUST got in the mail, like 2 days ago. MAC’s Lip Erase Lip Balm (pictured above on the right) in ‘A83 Pale’. I like to have a blank canvas when I do my makeup, including my lips, and this is a balm and basically a lip concealor all in one. It is just so great and starts out pretty sheer and is build able without feeling tacky. Get yours here in one of two shades also for $20.
Now for the eyeshadow to go along with the primers.
Tried my best to get a few angles so you could see the shimmer and also the format of this pallette. Now, I would suggest first, if you really want MAC eye shadows to buy a ZPallette from amazon. You will be saving some money there. Then buy they singles since they have the magnets on the bottom. BUT if you want a custom MAC pallette, this girl ain’t judgin’! This was one of my anniversary presents and I couldn’t wait to get them. This is basically the colors I wear on a daily Basis.
Starting from the bottom, lightest: A24 Vanilla. I think most people that own their eyeshadows have this.
Then The light pink shade is A83 Sweet Lust
The Lighter of the Browns is A24 Twinks
And Lastly, the darker brown in A44 Embark.
So pretty and easy to blend. You just can’t go wrong with MAC. I don’t know if they make bad products.
Last, but most definietly not least is, yet again, a MAC product.
This, my friends, is the MAC’s Lipstick in ‘Saint Germain’. This color is so pretty. Now, it’s definitely not for everyone. It’s more of a barbie pink with a slight purple undertone.
But it seems to be great on any skin tone. I seriously love it. It is a creme lipstick, not a luster. Creme is the pigmented lipstick, where a luster is more sheer. Their line of lipsticks are amazing. I actually wore it yesterday:
I actually put Nars ‘Striptease’ over it and toned it down a bit since I was just running errands (i was trying new make up–don’t hate) but I was so excited to wear it, so I did.
Get a tube of ANY color at maccosmetics.com for 16 smackers.
Ok, I’m done. I promise. If you stuck it out. Thanks. If not, then you aren’t reading this anyways. Love you guys!
